Rediscovering the True Meaning of Treasure Tuesday

If you’re new here, welcome to my little corner of the internet. 🌟

Treasure Tuesday isn’t always about physical things you can toss in your cart at Target or click “Add to Cart” on Amazon. Today, it’s about ideals, feelings, patience—and, most importantly, family traditions.

The Glitch That Tested My Patience

For weeks, my Instagram was semi-locked due to a technical issue, and all I could do was share reels. Reporting the same problem over and over (and over!) with no response stretched my patience to its limit. The whole ordeal forced me to pause and reflect: What’s my goal here? Who am I trying to reach?

My Goal: To carve out time for myself. Writing is my happy place—whether it’s on a keyboard or dictated while walking. Walking is my ultimate “HRE” (happy, relaxed, and engaged) activity, a concept we use in behavior analysis. It clears my head, helps me reset, and keeps me grounded in ways no other activity can.

Finding those little pockets of “me time,” even if it’s just five minutes, is my secret weapon. Learning to set boundaries and say “no” without carrying guilt is a work in progress (shoutout to my Thoughtful Thursday post). My HRE matters, and so does yours.

Who I Want to Reach: That’s still evolving. I admire social media “angels” who step in to change lives—helping struggling restaurants, single parents trying to make ends meet, or dreamers on the brink of greatness. Influencers like Zachery Dereniowski (MDMotivator), who spreads kindness through powerful social experiments and life-changing acts of generosity, are the kind of people I’d honestly love to meet. Watching his videos reminds me that kindness and connection can spark hope in the darkest moments.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind being the recipient of a little influencer magic from folks like MDMotivator, Greatness, or Mr. Beast. Being a small business owner has been a tough go lately. I’m doing everything I can to keep it all together, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes wish for a miracle to ease the stress. And you know what? It’s okay to hope for that. We all deserve a little help now and then, even if it’s just a kind word or unexpected support.

Figuring out where I belong in this vast, digital space is still TBD, TBH. What I do know is that I’m not someone who’ll post deeply sentimental musings all the time. That’s just not me. I’m lighthearted and love finding humor in life’s quirks, even when things get tough. My plan? Keep pairing music with messages that inspire me, spark joy, and maybe make someone else smile along the way—because that feels like home.

Treasure Tuesday = Family Traditions

With Thanksgiving being so late this year, I felt like I was playing catch-up for weeks. Between wrapping up the annual photo calendar (done earlier this month, thank goodness), uploading hundreds of photos to a digital picture frame as my planned thoughtful give to my in-laws, and scrambling to finish shopping, it’s been nonstop. As of Sunday, I was still wrapping presents!

Feeling overwhelmed and out of the holiday spirit, I decided to hit pause last Sunday night to watch The Santa Clause(Tim Allen) with my daughter. It’s such a cute movie, and while I’m still not convinced I got everything done, it reminded me of the importance of slowing down and finding joy in the little moments.

And that’s what Treasure Tuesday is about for me: Family traditions.

This week, we embraced two of ours:

  • Ice Skating at the Bethlehem Steel Stacks: Sure, the rink rental was eye-wateringly expensive (seriously, it’s a crime), but the memories were priceless. Watching my teens skate together reminded me how fleeting these moments are.

  • Unboxing Another 1,000-Piece Puzzle: We’ve given ourselves three days to finish it—a race against time that always ends in laughter, determination, and a sense of accomplishment.

In two years, my husband and I will be empty nesters, so I’m soaking up all the adventures I can with my kids while they’re still here. My husband isn’t a roller coaster fan, so I’ll save those for the kids and stick to baseball games and orchestra concerts with him. It’s all about balance—and treasuring time with the ones you love.

Planning for the Future (And a Little Holiday Cheer)

During yesterday’s seven-hour drive (two days before Christmas!), I put some of my pent-up energy into planning our 2025 concert lineup. So far, I’ve got three shows on the calendar—small, medium, and BIG—and I’m already researching the cities to plan long family weekends around them.

If anyone has “must-do” recommendations for Louisville or Denver, I’m all ears. I want to make these trips not just about music but about creating unforgettable experiences with my family.

Patience: A Holiday Treasure

Patience isn’t just for technical glitches—it’s a virtue we all need, especially during the holidays. Case in point: Yesterday, on our road trip along I-80, we stopped at a rest area where one lone employee was running the food counter two days before Christmas. I recognized her from Thanksgiving when she was, once again, working alone.

Apparently, the turnpike management thinks this is the “slow season.” (Spoiler alert: It’s not, Ohio!) But this young woman’s calm and grace under pressure were a masterclass in patience, reminding me it’s not just about waiting—it’s about how you wait.

Treasure What Matters

Tuesday is not just Treasure Tuesday—it’s also Christmas Eve. This year, I hope you take a moment to treasure your family, however you define it. Family can be anyone who is there for you, whether they’re related by blood or simply by love and kindness.

As you reflect on your blessings, think about those in your circle who might be less fortunate or struggling this season. A small gesture can go a long way. Maybe send a quick message to let them know you’re thinking about them—it could be the little spark of joy they need.

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas Eve. Let’s treasure the moments that truly matter. 🎄✨
